Thai Nation Club Links With Overseas Golf Clubs

Bangkok (PRWEB) September 27, 2011
Thailand’s premier golf club, Thai Nation Club (TCC) near Bangkok, has entered into reciprocal agreements with three international golf clubs in Asia-Pacific.
Avondale Golf Club in Sydney, Australia has joined Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club in Malaysia’s capital city and The Montgomerie Links at Danang, Vietnam in the reciprocal plan.
Basic manager, T.W. Hughes, says the agreements with the international partners aim to give TCC members the opportunity to play initial-class courses in locations that have immediate flights or can be very easily accessed from Bangkok.
Intended by former president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, Denis Griffiths, Thai Nation Club opened in 1996 and the following year hosted the Asian Honda Classic, won by Tiger Woods in his second season as a professional. The club, renowned for its course conditioning and stylish pink clubhouse, is owned by Phataraprasit Group and Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels, which operates the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong and its sister property in Bangkok.
TCC is a member of Golf in a Kingdom: The Thai Golf Knowledge. In 2010, it was named by Asian Golf Month-to-month as Thailand’s very best golf course and 1st runner-up in Asia. T.W. Hughes says TCC is now in the best condition for years. “During the substantial season guests will expertise new levels of course preparation and service,” he reports.
Thai Country Club also has reciprocal arrangements with Butterfields, a private members’ club in Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Bankers’ Club.
Opened in 1926 on Sydney’s prestigious Upper North Shore, Avondale Golf Club was created by the acclaimed architect and golfer Eric Apperly, right after whom an Below-23 amateur competition is named. The course has been enhanced by Australian golf course architect, Ross Watson, and is now ranked in the prime 100 courses in Australia by Australian Golf Digest.
Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, eight kilometres from the CBD in Bukit Kiara, opened in 1991 and is regarded as Kuala Lumpur’s premier course.
The Montgomerie Links, designed by Colin Montgomerie, became the first golf course on Vietnam’s Central Coast near Danang when it opened in 2009. It was joined a year later by the adjacent Danang Golf Club, designed by Greg Norman, although a third course developed by Sir Nick Faldo is due to open north of Danang in late 2012 or early 2013.
